Well, I did it. After a rocky start, which prompted the deletion of about 700 words, I managed to repair one of the stalled parts in Running Down the Moon and add 1600 new words to my word count. I am now standing about 51% completion, as you can see from the fancy pants word [...]

Guys, I have to tell you that getting back into Running Down the Moon has been really hard. In fact, I remembered as I sat down to write last night why it was so easy to walk away from the story when holiday travel mayhem set in back in November. I hit a bit of [...] In truth, there is nothing more motivational than rejection. Sure, many of us sink into defeat, maybe throw a fit or two and possibly even refuse to submit our work ever again just to avoid ever feeling like a failure again. I’ve blogged about rejection a lot over the last year and a half because [...] It’s been awhile since I penned a commitment report, but that’s not to say there’s nothing going [...] This week has been all about catching up on the little things. As I mentioned in my last post, I fell a bit behind on my NaNoWriMo word count last weekend on account of both being under the weather and James being here for a short visit. [...] I started my morning off with a bit of a bang. A major plot twist that had been alluding me since the beginning of the novel snapped into place like Lego blocks, and I have spent the last two hours combing through strands to work it into place. [...] Well, needless to say, this last week has not been very productive. Since Sunday, I’ve managed to squeeze out about 1200 words on Running Down the Moon, and reached 3000 words on the short story I’ve been writing for Nobilis Erotica, when I realized that I wasn’t even halfway through the plot. Boo. [...] Ahhh, this weekend has been jampacked with goodness, but I won’t lie. It’s been incredibly busy because of that. On Friday, I was on track with my NaNo wordcount, but after driving into Rochester to pick up James early Saturday morning, we wound up sleeping much of yesterday. When we did finally get around, the [...] NaNoWrimo Day Four… The interesting thing about writing a novel in 30 days, is you just write. Like I said the other day, there isn’t time for the petty nitpicking many of us spend on our writing–you know, the stuff that keeps us from finishing things in the first place. I’ve heard a lot of people [...] It’s November 1, 2009, and the official kickoff of the 2009 NaNoWriMo season. Thirty days of novel writing madness.
