This week has been all about catching up on the little things. As I mentioned in my last post, I fell a bit behind on my NaNoWriMo word count last weekend on account of both being under the weather and James being here for a short visit. [...] I started my morning off with a bit of a bang. A major plot twist that had been alluding me since the beginning of the novel snapped into place like Lego blocks, and I have spent the last two hours combing through strands to work it into place. [...] Well, needless to say, this last week has not been very productive. Since Sunday, I’ve managed to squeeze out about 1200 words on Running Down the Moon, and reached 3000 words on the short story I’ve been writing for Nobilis Erotica, when I realized that I wasn’t even halfway through the plot. Boo. [...] Ahhh, this weekend has been jampacked with goodness, but I won’t lie. It’s been incredibly busy because of that. On Friday, I was on track with my NaNo wordcount, but after driving into Rochester to pick up James early Saturday morning, we wound up sleeping much of yesterday. I’ve heard a lot of people [...] It’s November 1, 2009, and the official kickoff of the 2009 NaNoWriMo season. Thirty days of novel writing madness. Participants have done the math, and know that in order to reach their 50,000 word goal by midnight on November 30th, they have write 1667 words or more every day. Seems like a drop in the [...] 17% complete. That is the percentage of my 75,000 word goal I have met on my current novel project. The current word total is logged in on the meter tonight at 13,096 words, and before midnight tomorrow, I need to write another 1904 words to reach my planned 15,000 word goal before NaNoWriMo kicks off. [...] I hope that whatever you are committed to, you are following through. Many of us fear commitment because we worry that we won’t follow through, and when you don’t follow through it let’s the people who count on you, but most especially yourself, down. Never be afraid to commit to yourself out of worry that you’ll let others down. It’s an excuse and a cop out to remain stagnant. Since this is the only life we know of that we as individuals get to experience, risk everything… [...] This last few days have been something of an annoying nuisance, and really that is all I’m going to say about that. The fact of the matter is that just when I decided to buckle down and get to the writing, it seemed like every nonsensical catastrophe under the sun was right there to try [...] |
