This last week has been incredibly busy, between work, planning, packing and family affairs, and I have discovered a great deal about myself in the process. 1. There are two types of pressure. 2. I only work well under one type of pressure. Deadline pressure. The other type of pressure makes it impossible to focus, and while I did finally pass the 6000 word mark on Running Down the Moon, I am sad to say that I have only written about 300 words since [...] I’m fast approaching the 5000 word mark in my novel, and just finished Chapter Two last night before bed. I’ve also been doing a lot of researching and bouncing some ideas off of a couple mentors, who have been incredibly helpful and receptive to my backstory and idea. It’s always an inspiration to share your ideas with others, and get positive feedback. While I know you can’t rely on others for your inspiration, it does certainly help to have a good support system in place. [...] It was commitment and support from people who care about me that pushed me to do what needed to be done. Because let’s face it. Sometimes we want to do things, but maybe we don’t feel confident or strong enough to take the steps we need to take. When you have people in your life who truly care about you and want to see you succeed, they don’t pull any punches. They push you when you start to step back from the edge, because they know you need to learn to fall before you can fly. [...] As promised, I have returned from the Horror Realm convention in Pittsburgh this weekend past, and every ounce of awesome I bring to you this week, I personally experienced. I met some fantastic people, people you need to know about because they are truly awesome and deserve recognition and support. I made some wonderful new [...] This week’s episode is a turning point of sorts, as Meredith, Him and Sir Gwydion prepare to set out for the Darknjan Wald. [...] I was thinking about revenge. I know, wicked, wicked, Jenny, you say. Revenge is bad. Who needs vengeance when Karma’s such a bitch, but let me tell you something. As a writer, we come equipped with the most wicked of tools in the way of vengeance: the capacity to secretly exploit people in our lives [...] What is this project, Jenny? What’s the [...] Snakes… big ones, little ones, fat ones, skinny ones… All my life I have been afraid of snakes. Even more than that–sharks. I’ve never swam in the ocean, though I stood on its mighty threshold watching the sun glint in rippling beauty across the waves.
