Celebrities. The royalty of the ages, it’s amazing how much power of influence they have. This morning I posted an article on Examiner.com about the British professor whose book sales went haywire after a photograph of his out-of-print book, Get a Grip on Physics was photographed in the backseat of Tiger Woods wrecked car. As a writer, my mind started churning about how to boost book sales. Of course, there have been sites all over the ‘net for years featuring pictures of celebrities and the books they’re reading, but what if you wandered around with your less-than-average sales novel in your knapsack just looking for rare photo opportunities to plant it in? Especially celebrity crime scene photos and major events? Imagine the news filming a shuttle launch and there’s a copy of your dog-eared paperback on the ground control panel… Or what if that one time Winona Ryder got caught stealing, and she was arrested with a copy of your book hanging out of her trenchcoat pocket… or better yet, she was stealing your novel in triplicate from Borders? Ahh, the possibilities. In fact, I think there’s a short story in there somewhere. And once it’s written, maybe I’ll tape it to the back of David Duchovny’s shirt like a kick-me sign. Hey, it couldn’t hurt.
In the meantime, I hope you’ll pop over and check out the article, even if it is a little absurd. Tiger Woods gets a grip on physics.

Ugh! I live in Los Angeles, I’ll start roaming Rodeo Drive (shopping center to the stars) and see if i can catch someone and stick my book on a pic with him/her! Oh well…
Nobody watches shuttle launches, unless the shuttle in question’s destination is Paris Hilton’s vagina.
If I recall correctly, in the novel How I Became a Famous Novelist, the author wanna-be becomes famous in part because a notorious celebrity THROWS his book at someone.
The “Grip on Physics” author needs to get his book set up for some print-on-demand sales!
Why David Duchovny? hmm? Crazy what folks do huh? Taking advertising to a whole new level, in the publishing field? I like it..
You know how they have those t-shirt guns at basketball games? I like those. Shoot your books at people at a basketball game.
Then shoot Winona Ryder at me.
