    Coming to you live…

from my brand spanking new laptop… Today, James and I went holiday shopping. He already knew what he was getting from me, and since our holiday celebrations are unconventional this season due to all the travel back and forth between here and Toronto, we decided we were going to exchange big gifts while he was here this week and save the small stuff for when Squeenager and I head up to Toronto. It’s a lot less hassle to have to travel across the border with a few stocking stuffers and some pajama pants than it is to tote electronics.

We went out this morning and picked out my laptop and bought the Squeenager a really nice Flip Ultra, which she has already christened with some very silly videos of herself walking down the stairs. I’ve been reorganizing and working from my new laptop most of the day, and James spent some time reading on his new Sony eReader.

I am really excited about the new computer. Unfortunately, my tower took a crap just before I left on my last trip to Toronto, so until I got something else, I wasn’t going to be getting much work done. This is so nice. some have said the setback of having a laptop is that I’ll probably never get out of bed again, but how could that be a bad thing? Mmmm, bed. :)

The nicest thing about this holiday is that we get to spend it together. Despite the fact that many of the holiday family traditions won’t be met this year, I am so grateful for the time we do have. I miss decorating, one of my favorite holiday passtimes, and I won’t be doing much baking either, but I know there’s always next year. James is actually working on Christmas day, so Squeenager and I plan to make dinner so it’s ready when he gets home that night. We might even bake up some of those cookies I was sorely missing. Either way, I am looking forward to the new traditions we will create together. Maybe I’ll even drink some egg nog this year.

On that note, I just opened up my novel, and since James is napping peacefully, I think I’m gonna try to sneak in a thousand words or so before he wakes up. I’m also looking forward to being able to start recording again very soon. w00t!

Oh, and if you haven’t had a chance to check out my latest article over on Examiner.com, I encourage you to do so now. I’d be really grateful for any comments you might have. I think this is a pretty interesting topic:
Mystery Writers of America delists Harlequin
Also, James kicked off his own Examiner.com column today as well. Be sure to subscribe for all the latest in horror movie news. He’s already written four articles. He’s kicking my butt.
